Replying to questions in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Prithviraj Chavan said Australian Prime Minister had in August, 2007 informed his Indian counterpart about his country's willingness to supply uranium.
"It was decided that official level discussions would follow. But it has not happened yet," he said.
The previous John Howard government had agreed in principle to supply uranium to India, but the new dispensation of Kevin Rudd has conveyed that his Labour party's policies do not allow nuclear cooperation with non NPT countries.
