In light of the recent New York Post allegations about how Lachlan Murdoch protects his celebrity friends, this photo of Nicole Kidman and Wendi Deng at the U.S Open (September 7, 2005) is worth a second look.
The Post allegations specifically mention Kidman and Russel Crowe as recipients of special media attention. And the whole gang was present for Kidman's latest wedding:
Sydney newspapers said about 230 family and friends including Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, director Baz Luhrmann, Russell Crowe, News Corporation chairman and chief executive Rupert Murdoch and his wife Wendi Deng, and Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch attended the service...Personally, I hate everything about Nicole Kidman, and consider her the second-most-over-rated actress ever (Meryl "A Dingo Took Me Ba-a-aby" Streep takes the top prize). Why does the press always fawn over her? Obviously it has to do with more than just a shared interest in Scientology. No wonder 95% of today's Hollywood movies are total crap.
Here's Wendi (still at the tennis) with her latest hubby and some other old farts:
Here's Wendi with people called "Anna Scott, Elizabeth Wyatt, and Kathy Freston" (I assume they must be celebrities of some sort) at a 2006 Oscars Party hosted by Vanity Fair:
Hey! Here's a song about Wendi, "The Ballad Of Wendi Deng", from a UK band called Marshmallow:
