Rats. Ship. Jump.

I wonder what John Howard, 68, thinks about this Liberal Senator's resignation:
Senator Calvert, 67, said he had decided months ago he wished to retire.

"I decided on this course of action many months ago because I believe that after 20 years in the Senate and five years as president, it is, for me, an appropriate time to retire," he told parliament.

"I also intend to resign as a senator for Tasmania before the September sitting period."
Oh yes, he decided "months ago", but he just chose to announce it now. Just before the election. And he is citing his age as a good reason for retirement.

Don't expect a big farewell lunch from Johnny, Senator.
